Nintendo promised us this feature back when the Wii was still being called "Revolution".

And as of May 7th it finally arrived. Wii is now a DS download station.

Some games appear to be permanent demos, while others have a limited availability of about a week.

First you do have to download the new "Nintendo Channel" but its free so no wii points lost there.

The Nintendo Channel offers videos of up coming Wii and DS games as well as other exclusives like interviews and reviews.
But my favorite feature is the DS downloads.

There are some differences than the Download Stations located in video game stores.

In the Store you get an option of 3 or 4 games only.
On the Wii you currently have an option of 9 different games.

In the store multiple DS systems can download at once.
On the Wii the console can only upload to one DS at a time.

In the store you have your DS connect to the station and you will see a list of the games to choose from.
On the Wii you have to choose the game demo you wish to download on the Wii first, and then your DS can search and find just that one game available at a time.

But remember Demos only stay on your DS for as long as you leave it on. Once you turn off the power, the demo will be deleted.

Here is the Current list of Demos.

No ending time period:
Brain Age 2
Brain Age
Flash Focus
Crosswords DS

Demo ending period May 18th:
The Spiderwick Chronicles
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
Eco-Creature: Save the Forest
My Word Coach
Iron Man

Awesome, I think I'm going to download this now.
I wonder how large the file size will be for demos on the wii though.
My 360 is 12gb and it's already full =/

The demos go straight to your DS. They aren't held on the Wii.

For some reason I also thought that the videos would be stored on the wii, not streamed. Either way, with the release of wiiware and pay & play (if that idea is still around), memory could get a bit full I imagine.
EDIT: also, my wii can't couldn't connect to the internet for some reason, so I never had the chance to check it out for myself Sad

Only about over 6 months after Japan, yay! I haven't noticed the Iron Man one, assuming my router works I'll play it today before it ends.

I've found some of these demos to be actually quite fun. I like to race my friends at CrossworDS. Hehe.

I tried out the new Phoenix Wright demo last week, and I have to say, I was impressed. I've never played any of those games before, but this demo took me nearly 25 minutes to complete, and it was fun. I think actually want the game now. >_<
I'm sure this will help Nintendo sell more merchandise...and it's fun!
